The door slams open, and Stein struggles to his feet. He's exhausted, so he's slower than he needs to be right now, but that's fine. He's the DMWA's most skilled meister, there's no way any of these people could be a threat.]
Good morning!

Good morning.

His blue gaze is fixed on the man everyone calls "Stitches"...
Don't let him too close he reminds himself.]
Where is he!?
no subject
What did you do to him?

He comes from the next room, scooping the last bite of the last bit of ice cream from its cup. Leaning against the frame and smiling. Bandages around his head and eye so they can't see that it's gone from blue to gold. ]
Mornin', kids. Are you harassing my doctor?
no subject
He sneers, internally battling between two instincts.
One instinct says to vent his frustration on the mad doctor, to make him pay for what he has done.
The other says to protect Doctor Watson and the patchwork woman.
The knightly duties win him over and he mutters to Beckett, his eyes remaining focused on Stitches.]
Keep him occupied but do not allow him to get you in his grip.
I will protect the others. Shout, if you need aught of me.
[Saying this he backs up and follows Watson along the wall to Rhys.
He says nothing to the man, at least not yet. There are others here who know him better.]

stops.
Yeah, no. That's not Rhys. She knows both men and their mannerisms enough to know exactly who that is, and she glances over at Fiona for confirmation. ]
Um, guys? Guys, stop, that's --
[ Maybe this is a misunderstanding. Not how it seems. This happens sometimes when Rhys suffers head trauma, right? Accidentally? And that's clearly a thing that's happened. Maybe he'll be back any second now.
Except she knows that's not the case and he called Stitches his doctor and it all makes sense and her dad warned her about this and it's too, too horrible. Too much of a betrayal, surely, even for-- ]
-- Handsome Jack.
no subject
What?
no subject
Jack.
["Venomous" isn't enough of a word for the way she says his name. She's doing her best to ignore the implications of this, stacked up along with everything else they know.]
Nice of you to drop in. Let us talk to Rhys.
no subject
There are things Angel would prefer not to believe. Beckett, the lack of a personal involvement aside, is older and wearier and much more cynical. He can believe them easily. He's moving on Stitches. He has a solid suspicion of what Jack would say next, and that answer would seal the doctor's death sentence.]
no subject
The expression is not Rhys's either.]
Angel, what has happened?
[He's heard that there was an AI in Rhys. House caused some trouble over it a while back. But surely the AI couldn't simply seize control like this...surely...]
no subject
Rhys isn't here right now. [He says, casually, and waits for Beckett to spring.]
no subject
[Helpfully pointing out the Rhys in the room right now. She's not stupid, though; even if she's not familiar enough with Rhys (or body language in general) to make the catch Angel did, she knows what is in Rhys's head.]
If that is the AI, where is Rhys's mind?
[She was told to retrieve Rhys, okay, she needs to know the deets.]
no subject
[ A snicker, though it's oddly... joyless? ]
Just a joke, guys! Don't flip out! The guy was literally toasted, soooo...
no subject
[ John has a paint scraper in his hand; his grip on it tightens. ]
Dr. Stitches you just murdered a man and put a psychopath in charge of his body. That is not a good place to be standing. Whatever you did, you're going to fix it.
no subject
There's no point in trying, there isn't anything left to fix. If I had my lab, we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place, but without the proper equipment this was the only option.
[The matches are in his pocket, and he reaches for them.]
