[network] @expostfacto; Food Restocking Status [open] Night 187
I meant to announce this a while ago, but this town doesn't exactly like making anything simple.
In the aftermath of the Admin's announcement a while back about supplies running low, I took the liberty of looking into how our food is restocking. Nobody else had mentioned they were doing so, and it seemed like something we should know sooner rather than later.
[There might be a slight note of annoyance that she was the only one who thought about and followed through on this. Or if she wasn't the only one, the only one that's announcing the results. Not that she's going to go into a full day-by-day at this exact second. She's not a politician - she isn't here to make some kind of long-winded speech.]
Preliminary results are showing no change in how much food is being stocked in stores. Anybody who wants to know the full details of what I did in my experiments and how can ask for them.
That being said? My experiments were far from conclusive. There's only so much I can do by myself, and I'm not sure how much time we have exactly to dedicate to this. Don't get careless with food just because we think that food supplies are fine for now. That won't always be the case.
[And hey, on that earlier note of slight annoyance.]
And if anybody's interested in trying to do a more thorough experiment, or if at any point you or a group you're with empty a restock point completely, contact me. Or if you've done something similar and haven't said anything yet, now's a good time to add your own contribution.

In theory something like that should be avoidable if we clearly communicate when we're planning to empty out a point, so anyone who might need to use it that day could warn us to leave some for them. There may be some element of risk though, yes.

are you thinking they restock automatically once theyre empty
or is that the point youre trying to test

Though I suppose you do raise a point - we need a baseline on how well supply points were able to recover from people taking a majority to all of their supplies on a given day. Did they turn up fully-stocked the next day, or did it take time?
I suppose it'd be best to get ahold of those who've been here longest, and see if they have any idea.

ok yeah that i didnt know
that makes it easier
you probably want to contact al and steph
@LELRIC and @Spoiler
theyve both been here since the beginning
theres probably other people whove been around a long while but idk who showed up when exactly

In any case, I can't imagine that everyone here would have survived several months if the food didn't resupply. Another suspiciously convenient element in this town.

if it didnt just being here a month would make stuff run out with all the people around
the thing i worried about was when or how fast but you got that covered already
makes me wonder where the food comes from though
is the admin just sitting on a stockpile down under the city
this is a bunch of hungry people shes gotta feed

Now that you mention it, I've been thinking of going downtown to check out the grocery store as is. But that location in particular has several items that should be literally impossible in this environment. Fresh dairy and meats, for example.
Either there's some new technology in the realm of food production and preservation that we haven't seen any evidence of yet, or our perceptions are being altered from what it really is. One is decidedly a less pleasant prospect than the other, though both raise their own questions.

yeah im just going to go ahead and not think too hard on that other option
ive got a pack full of nonperishable convenience store stuff and thats good enough for me right now
but we already know the admin herself has been around like 100 years at least so go fucking figure whats up with the local tech
at least miller had cryostasis to explain how hes still around
