[network] @Pandora; video, afternoon of 199 [open]
[Melanie has been putting this off for a few days - to think, to read, and then to think some more. But she can't put it off forever, and so here she is, sitting in front of her tablet with the camera pointed at her. She's wearing her plain white dress from home, and has a warm-looking cloak around her shoulders. It's fastened by a brooch at the neck, and on that brooch is the prophet symbol.]
Hello.
[She twists her fingers together nervously.]
I'm Pandora. My real name is Melanie, but people call me Pandora here, and that's the name I chose.
[Deep breath.]
I'm dangerous. Sometimes I try to eat people, and I don't really want to, but I can't help it. I'm small, but I'm quick, and I can hurt an adult if I take them by surprise. I stay in house fifty-five on House's map most of the time, and I think it's better for me to try to stay in one place, so that it's easier for everyone to stay away from me.
[This is easier than she'd worried it would be, and so when she continues, her voice sounds more confident.]
Clint says that I sound like a zombie, but that I can learn not to be. I'd like to try, but I don't know how to do that yet, and until I do, you all need to be very careful. Where I come from, people have guns, and I think one of the reasons they have them is for me and the other kids like me. If you have a gun or any other weapon, you should keep it pointed at me if you're near me. I also think that I should be in the guide, on the list of dangerous people, so that new people know.
[And that's it for that, at least for now. But she does have one more thing to say. She smooths her hands over the cloak around her shoulders]
When we were in the white halls, I found this. It has the prophet's symbol on it, and I think it might be a clue. If I need to, I can carry it somewhere, even if that means leaving my house.

@guardian; video;
But. Pandora. And someone who - much like her dead friend - kind of has a small problem with feeding on people a little. She has to say hi, right? She's pretty sure that Beckett would have. Maybe. While saying something snarky.
Better not to think about that, though, so that the lump in her throat doesn't render her completely mute. ]
Hello, Pandora. I'm Angel. A friend of mine had a similar problem, and we kinda got it to a... mostly managable state. Have you tried-- have-- how did you keep it under control back home? If we start there, perhaps we can work something out for you.
@Pandora; audio
She has to think back on this a little, because back home, she didn't even know it was an urge she had. But everyone else must have known, maybe even Miss Justineau, and that must be why they had done so many strange things. When takes this new information into consideration, she thinks she has some answers.]
They tied me to a chair with wheels, with straps on my wrists and ankles and head, and didn't let me out unless I was in my cell. They weren't supposed to touch me, and they made sure that they stayed away from my face. And-- I think they wore something on their skin too, because they smelled different. Not like people here.

[ That's right, ping more of her ~*~*issues*~*~. She'll wait. ]
Okay, that... that's not how we're going to do it this time. That's the last resort. Can I ask what you usually ate back home? And what you've been eating here? If anything aside from basic rations.

[She looks at the network a lot, and she remembers someone saying that all capitals mean shouting.]

[He would be more enthusiastic, but with everything that's been going down, and what she just said, it's not really something he can do.
She eats human flesh. Okay. Cool. Great. Does sound like a zombie thing, which is totally what they need here. But she's still only a kid.]
So, um. Do you have a supply of food nearby? And I don't mean people, I mean, normal food. Because that's enough, right? It's not like... you need to eat people, or do you? Do you need it for protein or something? And um, when you do bite someone, do they become like you? Do they start eating people, too?
[What the hell is he saying. What the fuck.]
Do you have any idea how to control it? Because you shouldn't stay alone, or in one place. It's dangerous.
@Pandora; audio
[And while she isn't used to feeling stupid, that definitely makes her feel stupid.]
I'll be all right by myself, really. And I'll leave the house sometimes, so I won't go mad.
> private;
Are you really? All right, by yourself, I mean. It's okay not to be, you know? I wasn't all right by myself. I was so far from that.

What about that cloak? Does it do anything?

[He doesn't know her, and he's still going to add her into the guide, but she deserves to know that. It reminds him a little of how Beckett had been when he had been added.]
I think it's a really good thing to want to try and protect other people, but you have to try and protect yourself too. Is there any way that we can help you?

...Maybe it's best he doesn't ask about it.]
Staying in one place too long might make it worse. It might be better to move between a few houses in the area instead, if you must stay in one place. But...there was someone here whose affliction was much like yours. He was an adult, so he had many more years of experience with it, but he could control himself more often than not. Do not think yourself beyond hope, because I am sure there's a way to train your instincts.

[But that's just logistics. That's not the most interesting thing here. This is the second time she's heard about this mysterious other man, and she's fascinated.]
What happened to him?

zombies do not talk because zombies are not people
you talk and sound like a person
I am also dangerous but I do not want to hurt you so I will stay away
I am also learning not to be dangerous, but I do not eat people so that is easier
audio
[She'd never heard the term before Clint had brought it up. Does he think she isn't a person?]
