[network] @gravedigger; We shall see that at which dogs howl in the dark; video; Evening 107 [open]
[For the first time the Joker shows his face to the Network. His features are gaunt, slightly crazed, and oddly clown-like.
He smiles into the camera almost flirtatiously and waves with his fingertips.]
Hello, honeys, it's your pal Jack White here... Or the Joker. Jeepers me, I guess that little secret is out by now.
[He coughs into his fist.]
Anyhoo, let me get to the point.
By now everyone is probably deciding that the next logical step is to dig deep.
Before you all grab your shovels and ice picks I advise you to think.
[He taps the side of his head.]
Don't go doing anything crazy now! Hahah...
If you do, you might find the punchline to this whole cruel gag is not terribly funny.
[A thoughtful pause.]
Oh, and if anyone sees the United States tell him I think he has my stuff. I want my stuff back.

no subject
die
and keep dying until we don't wake up again
no subject
>private [cw: allusions to suicide]
didn't say it was lying down
just dying
i'm going to see if i can block out the wifi signals with foil
i won't have time to get back inside anywhere with the weather like it is if i'm out on the lake
might learn something
[private]
What do you mean, you might not make it inside if you're on the lake? Why go out on the lake in this weather at all? What does that have to do with blocking the wifi signals?
[private]
admin's probably using the same
i need to get to where the wifi signal's the weakest
that'll be away from the buildings
big empty patch near the lake'll be best
aluminum and tinfoil can block wifi signals
i've got a full roll of aluminum foil
no point in waiting
dying's cheap when you've got revive points, k-man
[private]
[private]
[And that's pretty much what it boils down to.]
but if it'll get your panties out of a twist
i'm on the other side of the map and i need to ditch quark first
[private]
Why don't you care if you come back? Doesn't your life matter to you at all?
[private]
death has no meaning here
means life doesn't matter much either
i can't diagnose anyone here
there's nothing to diagnose
even if i could
i can't treat them
i'm one of those "my job is my life" people
all of the puzzles here are just a test
they're meaningless
just another area in the maze to keep us interested
keep us exploring
haven't you seen it?
this place operates like a video game
everything is set up perfectly
little hints
little puzzles
it's all a cage and we're just playing games
at least if we screw with the rules there might be a chance to burn this place down
whatever it is
or i'll be dead
and i'll care a hell of a lot less then
[private]
A child drowns, he's not breathing, his heart's not beating, he's dead. But someone in the crowd knows CPR. He's resuscitated.
A man in Norfinbury gets murdered. He's not breathing, his heart's not beating, he's dead. But NIMA exists and treats the dead man. He's resuscitated.
How are the two cases different? Each case redefines the threshold of death. We know limits exist for both. We don't know what the limits are for the point of no return for NIMA, but we know that it exists. Absolute death is still possible. NIMA's existence doesn't change the meaning of death.
And our captivity here isn't necessarily an indication of the way things will always be. Just because you can't do your job now doesn't mean you won't be able to in the future. Having your hands tied doesn't mean you should give up.

i've "died" before i came here
my heart stopped
they did the shock paddles to bring me back and everything
this isn't like that
this is people being swallowed whole by monsters
and turning up a few days later
or a few weeks later
being digested isn't a medically fixable condition
it means those things either have to be working with the admin
or our bodies are being recreated and our memories are getting grafted onto whatever these things we're walking around in are that bleed freaking static
i don't know what the hell that is
but it's not real
if i have to find the limit myself
that will maybe be a meaning
at least we'll learn something instead of this bullshit revival cycle just going on and on
go be an optimist at someone else
i didn't tell you this for you to try to cheer me up
i'm not giving up
i'm telling you i don't care what i have to do to myself to get answers or to end this
they wanna shove a revive mechanic down our throats?
fine
let's see how far they're willing to take it
[private]
Think. What have we actually seen? We've seen people swallowed whole without doing damage. No biting, no chewing, even if the monster has teeth. However much time later, those people might revive.
If they do, it's with everything they had with them at the time.
The monsters aren't what they seem. We've been told that, and we've seen it for ourselves. What if they aren't doing what it looks like they're doing?
What if they're not eating? What if they're taking? Taking bodies somewhere they get recovered from later?
I'm not being an optimist. I'm being a realist. I'm telling you that there are possibilities that you aren't considering here. I'm telling you not to be an idiot, not to throw your life away on a chance.
A slim chance.
We've had over a hundred deaths reported here, and only a fraction of them ever came back.
[private]
don't you get it?
this either gets me out permanently
or it gets answers
win-win
i'm banking on that slim chance to finally catch up with me
[private]
I was never trained for this.
But he may be the only thing that House has.
He switches to audio.]
Don't do this, House. I don't know what you need to hear, whether it's that people care about you, or that there's hope, but death isn't the answer. Death doesn't fix things. It ends things. Permanently. Wouldn't it be better to focus on fixing things so they're better? So that you're still here for what comes next?
[private]
the only reason i'm telling you any of this is because i literally can't lie
i'm not looking for help
i'm not opening up with my fee-fees for you to feel bad and be my buddy
if i wanted to manipulate you
i'd pick something that wouldn't get you whining platitudes like that at me
things change
they don't get better
and now i'm having to play cat-and-mouse with beckett
so that's irritating
let's skip that with you and lay a few things out:
there's nothing i can think of that you could say to change my mind
you seriously need to stop caring about someone who isn't worth it
anything i do isn't your fault
i'm not even doing any of this until i can get my crap back from america
get the picture, helmethead?
good
goodbye
