I don't think that you'll tell him...

[Well, she did a little. That's definitely true. It was a possibility.]

Just wondering how I want to play it if he ever does find out.

[She's no Sherlock and she's no House, but that doesn't mean she's not capable of staying one step ahead of everyone else. Maybe her username has everyone on edge, but people will get used to it. They'll move on. She's willing to play the long con here unless it doesn't work in her favor.]

In any case, that's hardly as interesting as what you're going to do with the bodies. Do you mind if I watch?

[A fair enough deal. It annoys her a little bit, but House would probably say something similar--right up until he's barking for her or anyone to spit out their thoughts. She's used to the verbal abuse. So she turns toward the morgue and starts walking.]

Fine.

[She feels sort of like she's being shrugged off into the role of an intern or attending nurse, but, well, what else is there to do around here?]

[Once they've gotten to the morgue and Sherlock gets down to his business, Amber finds a seat and observes. Not that she's observing for very long before he calls for her to join him. Well, calls for John to join him. There are a lot of things she could say here, but instead she raises an eyebrow as she stands and saunters toward him.]

Yes?

[Awaiting further instruction, boss.]

[Oh, yes. She feels proud. You can practically feel it radiating off of her. Good thing she's being used to being treated like a tool by House. Amber stifles a sigh as she hands over her tablet.]

Alright.

[Amber can't stop it from coming out with a bit of an annoyed edge, but she takes her tablet back with a snapping motion and boots up a notepad to key in. Ready when you are, Sherlock.]

I'm more than happy to help.

[Happy's a strong word, but it serves. She gives a halfway-apologetic smile.]

Your style is just a little familiar, is all.

[Familiar in a very unpleasant sort of way. It's like a less...verbally degrading session with House. And usually House makes them get their hands dirty without his help.]
wilsonsheart: <user name="asylums" site="livejournal.com"> (house will suspect something)

[Amber hesitates. At first, he's dead on. Not that she wants to admit that she's lacking in anything. But he'd clearly see through anything she told him. But then, when he brings up Wilson, all the rest of it, she laughs, shaking her head.]

Wrong.

[Oh, this is suddenly much more entertaining.]

Greg is my boss--was my boss. He'd just fired me. And I've always done whatever I had to in order to get the things that I want.

[It even almost worked with House. Not manipulating him, but all the others. She was just so close to that position.]

All of that was right. But I don't have a boyfriend. I've never slept with Wilson. And I'm certainly not dead back home. There hasn't been any sort of accident.

[Go ahead, Sherlock, tell her she's wrong. She's not lying.]

[personal profile] wilsonsheart 2016-12-13 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
What's that supposed to mean?

[She knows about the timelines, of course. And Wilson told her that they start dating and become close. He didn't tell her she was going to die. Amber's expression starts to darken. He did mention a bus. He was so upset.]
wilsonsheart: <user name="asylums" site="livejournal.com"> (because i uploaded new icons)

[personal profile] wilsonsheart 2016-12-17 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
Did you talk to House?

[She's tense now, her hands holding her tablet too tightly.]

Why would you assume that I die in a bus crash?

[Oh, but Amber...that's not what he said, is it?]
wilsonsheart: <user name="idiopathic" site="livejournal.com"> (can I even fit my fist in my mouth?)

[personal profile] wilsonsheart 2016-12-17 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Shit. Amber clears her throat and flicks her gaze back down to the tablet screen.]

Right.

[Her lips purse together and she takes a deep breath. She's aware that when she speaks again, her voice is too pinched.]

I apologize for challenging you. I didn't know.

[That she's dead. As good as dead. Going to die.]

[Amber's gaze stays pointedly on her blank notepad application as she tries to calm down the beating of her heart. And to stop feeling quite so faint. She knows she should sit down, but that much feels like an admission of weakness that it would be a mistake to show. She should be allowed to feel this way--to feel like her world is crumbling down into pieces. She just learned she's going to die, and soon. So why is she so ashamed?]
