Really? [America's surprised by that--he loves his own tablet, after all.] No one you want to talk to?

Of course there's someone I want to talk to.

[Stupid death price. He couldn't lie about it.]

I still don't want it back, though.

Sherlock? [Not a huge leap, to be fair.] I guess you can just wait until you get out and talk to him then.

[Sudden intense focus--which probably looks scary considering the state of his eyes--]

Is he here!? Have you seen him!?

[America holds up his hands. It's kind of hard with all these tablets, but he tries.] No, no, chill. He's still outside. We can only convert so many people at once.

[Mycroft isn't sure he's ever had such a big sigh of relief. Of course that just makes his lungs hurt even worse.]

Good. He needs to stay out there.

We are gonna convert him, too, y'know. [In case Mycroft is getting the wrong idea here.]

[--and there was the pressure point. Blast! Mycroft slams his foot on the bars--which was horribly painful and stupid considering his foot already ached--wishing he wasn't so on edge, normally he wouldn't snap in pressure like that.]

If you're converted by then, you could do it. [He says it like he's offering something nice.]

[Something inside Mycroft snaps worse than anything they did to him the night before. The thought of him losing himself, becoming like them, and doing this to his little brother--no. No, no--no--nonono--

--he manages to get ahold of himself before a panic attack set in from the sheer fear and lack of control that was plaguing him ever since he came to this town. This was part of the playbook. He'd fall right into their hands if he lost himself now.]

--then I suppose I'll have to decline to 'convert'.

[He's gritting his teeth though, every rapid breath crackling inside him.]

You're just still sick. It's okay, I'm sure you'll get better. [Even if he doesn't want to convert now, there's still plenty of time.]

Sick? What do you mean, sick?

Everyone who doesn't follow the prophet is sick. We're making you better. We're not, like, torturing you guys or anything.

Really. [His tone could not be drier. He holds up his injured hand.] So pulling out nails isn't torture, according to you?

It's just teaching you humility. We're not trying to get info out of you or anything like that.

Humility. Surely there are easier ways. That don't involve dismemberment or unnecessary surgery.

This is just how it works. [America shrugs a little.] It's what the Prophet wants.

[Of course.] And who is the Prophet?

The one who saw what we didn't see. [He says it like a prayer.]

[Huh.] And where is the Prophet now? Why must everyone be converted?

Everyone has to follow the Prophet, that's why. [It's self-evident, in his opinion.]

Circular argument. That's not a proper answer.

This isn't debate class, dude. [Why are you so much like England? He already knows the answer to that.] Sometimes an answer's just the truth even if it's circular or whatever.
