Downtown, okay. Well, you've got the best food options in Building 123, but you'll want to get out of there pretty quickly. The weather has a bad habit of turning and trapping people in that area.

It'll take you two days to get to the exit for the area, the Post Office (Building 121). Take your time at the shop down there. Get some real food to go along with the rations you received when you woke up. You won't be seeing it for a good long while apart from down there. Give yourself the full day to get from Building 121 to Building 108. You'll probably need it. Those are ice caves around the hospital. Lots of chances for icicles to fall and spear you.

Once you're to 108, you should have a much easier time of it moving around. Building 111 is the Pharmacy, might want to check that and the hospital to start building up your medkit.

You know, I can't tell if you're just being optimistic or if getting from point A to point B is a matter of stepping outside my door. This is all assuming I actually make it as far as 108.

[ Wilson isn't completely useless, but he can't help but feel as though the odds are quite clearly stacked against him. The journey from building 130 to 108 sounds harrowing and incredibly difficult.

He's still noting all of this down, of course, but from where he's standing, his chances don't look good. ]

How many people have made the trip and survived?

I think you Americans are meant to be the optimists. [John offers him a wry smile.] People have made the trip. Not sure of the exact number, but when that area first opened up, there was a lot of traffic down that way. You just need to give yourself the full day and be careful about it.

One thing to keep on the lookout for is good boots. I'm assuming you're not wearing shoes that were really meant for snow travel unless it was the middle of winter when you were pulled here. Frostbite on the extremities is something you'll be dealing with most often. That and the MN Poisoning I mentioned in my comment above you.

Meds can't fix MN Poisoning, but they can partially alleviate symptoms. We've found that blood transfusions from healthy patients can temporarily cure MN Poisoning, but the recipient deteriorates over the next 7 to 10 days to where they were at the start. Still working on how to boost the length of the cure.

That does seem to be how people perceive us, yes. [ He gives John an equally wry smile back. ] All right, I was just asking. I wouldn't want to be known as that new arrival who died immediately after getting here. [ Even if it wouldn't technically be immediately, he still doesn't want that particular distinction. ]

No, unfortunately, good boots isn't something I came prepared with. I've seen people with cases of frostbite, and I don't particularly want to repeat it myself. [ But he probably will, unless he gets lucky and comes across a pair in one of the buildings. ]

Frostbite and poisoning. It sounds like I have a lot to look forward to.

...Yeah, you're gonna have to work hard to beat out the bloke who decided to open a door that was marked that there was an anomaly inside and died pretty quickly. [Magenta, your legacy will live on.]

What I can recommend is finding plastic wrap or plastic bags. Wrap those around your feet like socks. It'll keep the wet out, at least, even if they're uncomfortable. What size shoe do you wear? I can check around, see if anyone's picked up a spare pair of boots that might fit.

Oh, two other things! Because you're a doctor, you have prescription rights. You just need to message @ADMIN with the name of the patient, the medicine, the dosage, and if it's a repeating prescription or not. Which brings me to the second thing. The first set of meds you prescribe will be sent directly to the patient. Anything else will be sent to the Pharmacy. Bit inconvenient to get back and forth to, and we've had issues with people stealing prescriptions that don't belong to them. So, we've tried to be careful about repeats. Especially as we're running low on all grades of pain medications. We have two known narcotics addicts, as well. Sherlock Holmes and your mate, Gregory House. Please don't prescribe to one or the other without checking that one of the other medical professionals already have a prescription out for them.

The others are Dr. Stephen Strange (@beyonce) and Nurse Mary Watson(@mewatson), along with Dr. House, but he can't prescribe for himself, obviously, and I don't particularly trust him to be honest where Sherlock's concerned.

I would hope that I'd avoid making that particular error, but anything's possible.

It does sound uncomfortable, but as long as it works, I'll try anything. I'm a size 10, but if you can't find anything, don't worry about it. I'll take a look around here and see if there's anything useful.

Prescription rights? Now that's something I wasn't expecting to have around here. Why am I not surprised that even here, there's addicts? And even more unsurprising, you already know about House.

[ He's just going to laugh because clearly, some things never change. Also the use of the word 'mate' gets a dry chuckle out of him. ]

I'll put out the word on sensible shoes for you.

But House has been here a long time, mate. He was a known addict before I arrived sometimes like six months ago. Good luck with... that.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

He's been an addict for longer than that. I didn't really expect that to change just because of a change of scenery.

If you need any other help with more warm-weather gear, Dr. House, or anything, let me know. I'll see what I can do for you. Know what it's like being the new doctor just turned up, not knowing what's going on. I'll be in touch.

And I'm John, by the way. Welcome to Norfinbury, mate.
