[log] Comorbidity [closed]
Characters: John Watson, Death the Kid, Franken Stein, and Undertaker
Location House 58
Date: Night 171
Summary: This is a house with a lot of problems in it. Watson, Kid, and Stein run into Undertaker for the night.
Warnings: Possible talk of death, morbid discussions.
[A simple single-story building, the snow weighs uneasily on it, and it creaks and groans under the strain at the best of times. It's very dark, and only the kitchen and living room are intact. The kitchen has a back door. Two snowmen have been built outside. A message has been written on the wall in blue ink: "Don't wreck the snowmen! That's super mean!" "ALPHONSE ELRIC, MAMI TOMOE, FREYA CRESCENT, GREED, EDWARD ELRIC, STEPHANIE BROWN, DAY FORTY ONE, TRAVELLING EAST." has been carved into one of the walls. The following has been written on the wall in blue pen: "This is Building95 97 on the composite map. Contact @CaptSteveRogers for details." Underneath this is a fairly accurate map showing the house in relation to the school and buildings 29, 35, 35, 37, 40, 41, 47, 48, 50, 53. House 34 is labeled "Medical assistance; hot, clean water. Contact Dr. Epps @claytonator". The school is labeled "School. Food available in cafeteria; DO NOT STAY HERE OVERNIGHT." The shed is labeled "Shed".]

It's getting near to lockdown. If you need anything else outside, best hop to, lads.
no subject
[He has been physically dragged inside twice now, before lockdown. He does not want a repeat.
As for his backpack, he's eyeing the sofa and trying to decide if there is a way to place it there that would keep Watson in the center and the two packs equidistant from him.]
no subject
I might need to go collect some more snow.
no subject
Mind the steps, they're a bit slippery~ Hee Hee Hee!
no subject
He's entirely silent, at least for now.]
no subject
[Really, Kid just wanted to chastise Stein for stressing him out more...until a tall and giggling madman hopped over the sofa and started talking nonsense. The rational part of his mind immediately began to whine about being stuck with another tall crazy man.
The less rational part of his mind immediately assumes the stranger hid for more ominous reasons--he drops his pack and shifts slightly, ready to pounce if need be. For now, though, the teen stays put.]
no subject
But he does step closer, grabbing Kid and shoving the boy backwards to get between the young god and the stranger.]
Who are you?
no subject
Of course, the effect also makes him seem like much less of an immediate threat. With the side of his face mashed against the hardwood, his answer to Stein's question comes out a bit muffled.]
I just arrived here a few days ago! I wasn't expecting anyone so touchy...
[He goes limp then, unresisting.] I go by Undertaker. Check my tablet if you don't believe me.
no subject
We've got monsters that appear and murder people at random, Mr. Undertaker. I'm sorry for being so rough, but this really isn't the place to surprise people.
no subject
Quite the name.]
Dr. Watson is right. There are not many places that are safe here.[He waves the tablet slightly, still crouched on the floor.] You do appear to be who you say you are. But some will go immediately to actually injuring you as opposed to just attempting to subdue you, and check your identity later.
no subject
Anything interesting in there, Kid?
no subject
So I've heard. Haven't seen any of them myself, yet...
[Though at the mention of his bag, his attention turns to Stein. There are indeed some interesting things inside, though he's put the prescriptions he took from the pharmacy on his own person. That still leaves things like aluminum foil, soap and a men's belt that might hold some value. As well as an anatomy chart he found at the hospital.]
What, thinking of robbing me while we're at it? [He doesn't really care if they do take any of those items, though it would set him back slightly. But it's a concern that most people would have.]
no subject
Of course we won't be robbing you. There's enough hardship here for supplies without making that worse on each other.
no subject
[Kid uses Stein's unorthodox commentary and his bristling response as an opportunity to briefly check for weapons; even if he finds any he won't touch them. A moment more and he's tucked the tablet back into the pocket where he found it then brought the bag over to Undertaker and set it near the other man. Sort of. Considering he puts it on the couch next to Watson, which is actually behind Undertaker
hey it's made the couch + Watson a nice symmetrical arrangement don't judge him.]I've no intention of robbing you whatsoever. You mentioned your tablet, and I checked it. [He states this very calmly, as if it was the most rational answer in the world.] However, like startling people unnecessarily, it may not be wise to leave it sitting alone. Not everyone here is so diplomatic.
no subject
(He catches Kid's quick scan of the bag, but discussion of the contents will come later, of course.)]
no subject
[Though he still goes to pull something out of his bag of his own volition. He was waiting for the right moment to use it, and now seems as good a time as any.]
Well then, I have a nice offer for you, Professor. [Since Kid had already addressed him by that name, he turns and holds the item up to the other man. Normally he was the one looming over others, so the reversal is slightly intimidating but also amusing.
The object in his hand is an ice cube tray.]

A gift? For me? You shouldn't have.
no subject
[He lets go of it if Stein is indeed taking it from him. Whether he keeps it or not doesn't matter much to him. But he does cock his head a bit as he tries to get a better look at the other man from his shorter angle.]
no subject
[John slips his arm through the straps for his pack and lifts it that way, stepping back and consciously trying to de-escalate any potential confrontation.]
no subject
If Stein comes back with an ice tray, though...]
no subject
Stein's more interesting features are hidden under the wrapped layers of blankets and scraps of fabric. Between his scruffy beard and the glare of light on the cracked lenses of his glasses, the only interesting feature is the stitched line of the scar that arcs across his left cheek.]
no subject
Don't think I specified what I was bargaining for.
[He just gives a slight shrug as the ice cube tray's tossed.]
Either way, I don't have much in the way of anything interesting. So you'll have to settle for my meager gift.
