[log] Comorbidity [closed]
Characters: John Watson, Death the Kid, Franken Stein, and Undertaker
Location House 58
Date: Night 171
Summary: This is a house with a lot of problems in it. Watson, Kid, and Stein run into Undertaker for the night.
Warnings: Possible talk of death, morbid discussions.
[A simple single-story building, the snow weighs uneasily on it, and it creaks and groans under the strain at the best of times. It's very dark, and only the kitchen and living room are intact. The kitchen has a back door. Two snowmen have been built outside. A message has been written on the wall in blue ink: "Don't wreck the snowmen! That's super mean!" "ALPHONSE ELRIC, MAMI TOMOE, FREYA CRESCENT, GREED, EDWARD ELRIC, STEPHANIE BROWN, DAY FORTY ONE, TRAVELLING EAST." has been carved into one of the walls. The following has been written on the wall in blue pen: "This is Building95 97 on the composite map. Contact @CaptSteveRogers for details." Underneath this is a fairly accurate map showing the house in relation to the school and buildings 29, 35, 35, 37, 40, 41, 47, 48, 50, 53. House 34 is labeled "Medical assistance; hot, clean water. Contact Dr. Epps @claytonator". The school is labeled "School. Food available in cafeteria; DO NOT STAY HERE OVERNIGHT." The shed is labeled "Shed".]

He makes it into the house's small kitchen with about an hour to spare before lockdown. It doesn't give him a lot of time to search, though he does come up with a fly swatter. Moving on to the living area, he'd just had a seat on the couch when the sound of voices and footsteps through the snow caught his attention. Cocking his head, he took a few seconds to determine that they were coming closer rather than passing.
Well, it looked like he might have some amusement right now, after all.
Bouncing back up, he quickly pulls the couch away from the wall, giving him just enough room to duck behind and out of sight.]

It's getting near to lockdown. If you need anything else outside, best hop to, lads.
no subject
[He has been physically dragged inside twice now, before lockdown. He does not want a repeat.
As for his backpack, he's eyeing the sofa and trying to decide if there is a way to place it there that would keep Watson in the center and the two packs equidistant from him.]
no subject
I might need to go collect some more snow.
no subject
Mind the steps, they're a bit slippery~ Hee Hee Hee!
no subject
He's entirely silent, at least for now.]
no subject
[Really, Kid just wanted to chastise Stein for stressing him out more...until a tall and giggling madman hopped over the sofa and started talking nonsense. The rational part of his mind immediately began to whine about being stuck with another tall crazy man.
The less rational part of his mind immediately assumes the stranger hid for more ominous reasons--he drops his pack and shifts slightly, ready to pounce if need be. For now, though, the teen stays put.]

Altogether, he's fairly considerate of his traveling companions who do sleep more than him. He even works in primarily darkness, using only the light of his tablet to work by.
But it would be nice if you didn't just approach him in silence. You might scare him out of his skin.]
no subject
The quiet tinkering drew him to the kitchen once he'd decided that trying to fall back under was probably useless for now. Navigating the darkened interior of the house wasn't difficult, and he did so silently until he found the source of the noise.
Kid's only warning would come in the form of a couple shuffling steps, and a finger tapping him on the back of his shoulder. Undertaker spared him the full-on grab that he was typical of, simply because he didn't know the other all that well. But his voice speaks up on the tap's heels, not whispering but not loud either.]
Wot'cher up to? It's a bit late to be redecorating, don't you think?
no subject
When he recognizes the man, the spoon is lowered, and Kid glances away, taking a step back towards the counter, his back hitting the surface. It's clear he's uncomfortable being caught in the act, particularly by someone he doesn't know well.]
Ah--Yes, I suppose you are right. [In comparison, Kid's voice is quiet. The previously brandished spoon is being tucked back into the drawer from whence it came, and Kid rubs his sleeve across his eyes, blinking.] I hope I did not wake you.
no subject
No, no harm done. I was already awake.
[He could draw attention to the fact that Kid seems to be be having trouble sleeping, but that would be opening up the opportunity to have it pointed back at him. So he chooses a slightly different observation.]
A bit nasty cough you've got there, though. Are you taking any medicine for it?
no subject
[The shorter teen stops abruptly. He once again forgets that here, medication would work. That his body would not reject it. He clears his throat.]
I have not tried any medicine, no.
no subject
Might want to consider it. What might not've worked before might work here, you know?
no subject
Breathless:] It...can be difficult to track medicine down here. And I am unfamiliar with most variations.

[It's sometime after their 'introduction' to the other man spending the night with them. With the way his hands are, John isn't physically capable of doing a lot, and he's not feeling terribly social for his frailties. But he is hungry... and determined to get food for himself out of his pack.
The doctor's moved to one of the corners of the living room, leaving the sofa for someone else to claim for the night. Anyone watching him will see John wrapping his arms around the pack to draw it close and using his teeth to tug open the zipper. It's a slow and somewhat torturous process, but he's determined.]
B - Sweet Dreams Aren't Made of This
[There's likely no one in this house getting a good night's sleep. John's pressed into his corner, dreams tipping into nightmare territory with visions of Fiona's corpse staring into his eyes accusingly, of an anomaly like that, but for Bucky, coming after him. He's watched constantly, there are Prophet eyes all around him, on him, on everyone he knows. The Joker's there, too, for good measure, this time taking his fireplace poker to Alfie and-]
Sherl-!
[He jerks up abruptly, the cry relatively loud in the quiet house. John slumps back and holds his breath. Sherlock isn't dead. He's not going to die again. They're meeting up. Two more days. It's just two more days. Embarrassed for the outburst, the doctor curls in on himself a little more, trying to make himself ever smaller and unobtrusive.]
B
Kid is careful not to be too silent when he approaches. He can't be, coughing a bit as he crouched next to him. His voice is a hoarse whisper:]
Dr. Watson? I...thought I heard yelling. Are you okay?
no subject
Just a bad dream. Never you mind. [He clears his throat.] Is that coughing you've got on keeping you up? I can prescribe you some medicine for it. [Let's just immediately turn this conversation toward Kid.]
no subject
Instead, the teen nods, sheepishly tucking his face into his sleeve as he coughs.] Ah...yes, sometimes. It's worse at night. [Kid glances away, uncertain.] It keeps getting worse.
no subject
It's probably MN poisoning. [John sighs.] A prescription won't help a lot, but it should help some, at least. I'm sorry you're having to deal with that, Kid. If we can get this blood transfusion started...
D'you know what blood type you have?
no subject
Yes. Type D. [Kid pauses.] ...it is a non-human blood type, I know.

Even sitting half-way across the room, eyes hidden behind his bangs it's obvious that Undertaker's watching Watson struggle to feed himself most pathetically. Perhaps contemplating the lack of use in his hands without offering his help.
He takes a drink from a half-emptied bottle of water, plastic crackling softly as the air inside is displaced.]
SO RUDE, UT
He looks up after doing this, expression blank and voice level.]
Something I can do for you, Mr. Undertaker?
no subject
[It's a bit of revenge for Watson tackling him earlier. Even if he did completely deserve it.]
no subject
I'd appreciate you finding something else to enjoy, sir. I'm not a spectacle.
